We all saw how good the Jamaica International
goalkeeper Andre Blake did in CONCACAF Gold Cup 2017 and
everything he has done before. He is also showing how important a goalkeeper
can be for his team. InJamaican local football we can see many of talents
goalkeepers and we can mention Amal Knight as one of the team.
The 23 years-old goalkeeper plays
for University of West Indies Mona FC that competes in the Red Stripe Premier
League since the promotion last season. The team has done well and we can put
Amal Knight as one of key players on the featuring.

First years in football
How told us, for Knight the
football has been part of him since the 3 years old and he has been playing
football for his full life. He also
talks about a project that he is linked “I have been involved with footballl
from a tender age but since recently I have been apart of a football foundation
called ‘Game of Life’ where we donate football equipament to young aspiring
footballers various primary schools across Jamaica”.
He also talks about the
importance of football in general and in his life “Football means a lot to me
as it integrates players from all diferentes backgrounds and culture. It takes
many players out of poverty but for me it makes me happy and it takes any
stress I might have. It is where I get my enjoyment”.
Career and titles
He started his career playing for
his childhood club Real Mona FC having won title at categories of U13 and U17
and also at U20 for Harbour View FC. Playing for Wolmers Boys he won Walker Cup
and was the Most Valuable Player(MVP) of Manning Cup in his lastets year on the
team. His lastests archiviements, as he said us, was the selection of
goalkeeper of the season in Red Stripe Premier League and also Tony Burrows
Players personality award of the year.

National team
Amal Knight represented his
country at the U23 level for the Olympic Games Rio 2016 but he regrets the not
advancing after a third place in the group stage. At the senior level he was
named a few times but he hasn’t been called up recently “I’ll continue to work
hard so hopefully I’ll be in the squad in the near future”.
Future
In the aspect of what he expects
for the future he told us “I am just looking to just take my football career to
the highest possible level”.
